Starting in 1929, Vinton had a Sweet Corn Days Queen
and court, but the contest has not taken place since 1959.
For the Sesquicentennial Anniversary Celebration,
we are making a nod to that history by having a Miss Sesquicentennial and her Court!
The requirements for Miss Sesquicentennial were based
on age, enrollment within the VS school district, and residency within the 52349 area code. Applicants answered questions during Party in the Park, and our Queen and her Court selected!
To learn more about the Sesquicentennial Queen and her Court, read the biographies below!
The Vinton Sesquicentennial Queen, Grace Petrzelka and her Court will reign over the Sesquicentennial Celebration from August 17-24th, including the parade and numerous other events.
The Vinton Sesquicentennial Committee is looking for any former Sweet Corn Days Queens or members of the Court.
If you were a former queen or member of the court, or if you know of someone who was, please contact Molly Noren at or Deb Cummings at email@example.com.
Daughter of Brian Gage and the late Shana Petrzelka. Grace recently graduated from Vinton-Shellsburg High School where she was active in National Honor Society, Speech, Debate, Concert Choir and Student Senate. Grace will attend the University of Northern Iowa in the fall.
