Who created the logo?
Emily Timmermans Shern submitted an entry to the Vinton Unlimited Sesquicentennial Logo Contest that was held in 2018. Her entry was selected out of several entries submitted by local artists and reviewed by a panel of judges. She is a 2008 graduate of Vinton-Shellsburg High School. Emily says she has always had a passion for the arts, and knew she wanted to pursue that passion early on in life.
She began her career at the Wayzata Country Club in Wayzata, Minnesota in 2012 after graduating from Wartburg College with degrees in Communications Design and Public Relations. She currently works at the Wayzata Country Club as the Communications & Design Director.
Emily loves creating in her free time as well, designing wedding invitations and doing small business branding. She and her husband Alec live in South Minneapolis and enjoy spending time with friends and family, biking and exploring the Twin Cities!

IS THERE A COST FOR ANY OF THE EVENTS?
Thanks to numerous sponsors, we can provide almost all of our events at no cost. An admission fee of $5 will be collected for people 12 and older at the Live Music in Celebration Park on the evening of August 17th. Some of the events will have a box for donations set out. This is by no means a requirement to enjoy the event but is absolutely appreciated. Several of the events will have food, drinks or merchandise available for purchase.
Will there be fireworks?
Definitely! Our Sesquicentennial Celebration finale will be some of the finest firework displays the State of Iowa has to offer, thanks to Boomtown. Visit www.vintonboomtown.com for details!
Will there be a parade?
Yes, two in fact!! Plans are in motion for boat parade on the Cedar River and a GRAND PARADE complete with a Sesquicentennial Royalty Court on Saturday, August 17.
