Celebrating 150 Years of the Vinton Community with 150 Women
In many books about early history there is limited recognition of the influential role of women. This year the idea was developed to give special attention to historical women as well as currently active community women. A small work group developed submission forms and at least 150 names were submitted. These names and descriptions given by persons submitting them are included in this booklet. Space does limit including everything about every person. A summary and recognition of accomplishments for each individual is the goal. We hope it will encourage you to think of others that influenced you.
Conversations have been stirred throughout the past year. One memory quickly sparks another. Small groups as well as individuals helped create this booklet of biographies. We hope it will help you think of even more names - and to have good memories.
In mid-August a window display at Cameron's Clothing (103 W 4th Street) will feature all the women on the list. Using the information from the submitted form, a book is also being published which will include a short bio and photo of each woman. Books will be available for $5 and are expected to arrive during the week of August 12th. Books will be available at the Vinton Unlimited office in City Hall and at Farmers Savings Bank.
